Bioidentical hormone pellets are most often made in a compounding pharmacy. There is one brand name pellet made and available in commercial pharmacies, however it is only made in one 75mg dose and therefore not a viable option for most patients. Since this one limited option isn’t feasible for the majority of men who need testosterone therapy, it makes more sense to have high-quality, reliable pharmacies to produce pellets in more practical, useable doses.

The Pellet Procedure
Bioidentical hormone pellets require a brief, simple procedure. The pellets are placed in the subcutaneous fatty layer of tissue just under the skin. We use local anesthesia to ensure you have no discomfort during your procedure. At your consultation, your provider will discuss your lifestyle and activity level to determine the ideal location placement of your pellets. For most men, we place pellets in the “love handles” or the flank, however, the upper outer buttock is also an option. Men who have received pellet therapy in the past may like switching the placement location to compare and determine which is best for them.
